SEVERED

Some curses never die - they wait.
Thriller | 1h 30m
Severed is a brutal survival horror thriller set deep within the rainforests of Far North Queensland, where a massacre from decades past resurfaces with terrifying consequences. After witnessing the slaughter of his family as a child, a traumatised survivor returns to Australia years later as a Hollywood action star, determined to uncover the truth behind the unsolved killings that shattered his life. What begins as a weekend retreat with new friends quickly descends into a nightmare when the group is hunted by a hidden community descended from ancient head-hunting traditions. Cut off from help and surrounded by unforgiving wilderness, they must fight to survive against an enemy driven by ritual, vengeance, and blood. As the mystery unravels, the survivor is forced to confront the past he tried to escape — and the horrifying realisation that the violence was never random, and the nightmare is far from over.

The film is envisioned as a gripping thriller that fully embraces the raw, untamed beauty of the Daintree Rainforest, one of the oldest tropical rainforests on Earth. Director Danial Donái is passionate about showcasing this extraordinary landscape on screen, using its dense jungle, towering canopies, mist-covered rivers, and isolated terrain to heighten the film’s tension and atmosphere. By placing the story within the heart of the Daintree, Severed not only amplifies the sense of isolation and danger that defines the survival horror genre, but also highlights the dramatic natural environment of Far North Queensland as a powerful cinematic setting capable of bringing this terrifying story vividly to life.
